Assistant Coach Mark Bennett

Mark Bennett enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Laurentian Voyageurs basketball program after playing for the blue and gold from 1974 to 1979. He was part of two number one-ranked Voyageurs teams, made the trip to the CIAU national championships three times and in his senior season was named the Voyageurs basketball MVP and the winner of the Voyageur award at the year end athletic banquet.

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Bennett graduated from Laurentian with a Honours, Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1979 and then went onto complete an Masters of Business Administration at Lake Superior State University in 1990.

Bennett has coached the Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School senior boy’s basketball team over the past seven seasons, making it to the city finals on numerous occasions.

Bennett currently resides in Sudbury, Ontario and is semi-retired having run his own chain of MicroAge technology franchises until 2003. He has two university age children.
