Wendy Hampson
Wendy has been the Head Certified Athletic Therapist at the Voyageur Athletic Therapy Clinic for over 25 years. She holds a Physical Education degree from McMaster University and a diploma in Athletic Training and Management from Sheridan College (now a Bachelor of Applied Science in Athletic Therapy). In 2001, she also achieved her Certification in Acupuncture through the Centre of International Holistic Studies.

Wendy’s desire to get to the root cause of an injury, and to treat it effectively, has sparked her desire for lifelong learning through continued professional development. As a result, she has numerous and varied skills that she applies in a “hands-on” approach. She believes this approach to be a superior form of treatment, in combination with the application of traditional modalities and a comprehensive exercise program, to enhance the recovery of her clients. Her treatments, therefore, are patient-centered and individualized utilizing many “tools” from her “tool box” to help correct mechanical dysfunction.

Her career highlights include being the Chief Therapist at the Atlanta Summer Paralympics, as well as being selected by her peers to be a Canadian Team Therapist at the Winter Paralympics, Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, 2 World University Games, Canada Games and Francophone Games. These Games have allowed her to travel the world and to work with Olympic level athletes, as well as to work along side the best medical professionals in this country. Another feather in her cap is being selected to be part-time faculty at the new Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
