The Voyageurs men's basketball team finished up their weekend on the road visiting the York Lions who were looking for their first win since November. After a 23-12 first frame in favour of the Voyageurs, the Lions responded by increasing their tempo in the following three quarters making it a competitive match until the final minutes of gameplay. Despite York's battle, the #7 Voyageurs once again came out victorious earning their 15th win of the season with a final score of 89-80.
The Voyageurs shot 42% from the field as a team to go along with another dominating performance on the boards which continues to be a strength for the team, this time out-rebounding their opponent 47-26.
Top performer for Laurentian was second year guard Kadre Gray who was one assist shy of a triple-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists. Another solid contribution came from senior forward Nelson Yengue who earned a double-double with his 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Top scorer for the Lions was Gianmarco Luciani with 26 points.
The Voyageurs will have a few days of rest from competition before they face-off with the Nipissing University Lakers this Wednesday in North Bay. Tip off is 8 pm.
