On Saturday afternoon, the Laurentian men's hockey team lost 5-2 to the Ryerson Rams.
Ryerson opened the scoring at 9:04 of the first period when Fabrizio Ricci was able to beat Charlie Millen. The Voyageurs were quick to answer, however, when Nicolas Dionne tied the game just 15 seconds later at 9:19. Jacob Smith and Chris Smith got the assists on Dionne's goal. The first would end with both teams tied at one.
The Voyageurs were quick to grab the lead in the second though, when Nick Esposto scored just 16 seconds into the period on the power play. Picking up assists on the play were Vincent Llorca and Caleb Apperson. Just like the Vees had done in the first, the Rams were quick to tie the game back up. Luca Doctor scored just under a minute later for the Rams to tie the game at two.
The third period was all Ryerson, beginning at 4:33 of the period when Chris Marchese scored.
With just over eight minutes remaining, the Rams scored again to go up 4-2. Ryerson would add an empty netter and put the game out of reach for the Voyageurs.
After Saturday's 5-2 loss, the Voyageurs travel to the University of Toronto to play the Varsity Blues on Sunday. The puck drops at 4:00PM.
