In their final game of the season, the Laurentian Voyageurs women's basketball team fell to the Algoma Thunderbirds, 66-52.
The Vees were unable to prevent the Thunderbirds from taking the early lead, ending the first period with a score of 19-14. Laurentian entered the second quarter with a fierce determination to steal the lead, but were met with strong plays from Algoma. This resulted in the half ending with the Voyageurs trailing the Thunderbirds 29-24.
The third quarter saw good opportunities for the Vees, but the Thunderbirds were one step ahead.
Heading into the final quarter with a score of 48-39 to Algoma, the Vees dug deep and brought their A-game. With 5:47 left in the game, the Voyageurs were able to close the gap to just three points with incredible offensive plays. However, the Thunderbirds were able to regain and widen their lead late in the quarter, finishing the game ahead of the Voyageurs by 14.
