For their last game of the first semester, the Voyageurs faced off against the 1-9 Western Mustangs on home court.
Looking to end 2018 off right, Laurentian came out of the game strong in the opening of the game, matching the Mustangs pace. But the home team didn't stop there, they turned up the intensity to high gear. With multiple runs and some great defensive stops the Voyageurs outscored Western 21-8 in the second quarter, and carried that energy over into the second half. This high tempo and aggressive pace gave Laurentian the advantage they needed, which ultimately resulted in a 76-59 victory in the Voyagers' favour.
Again the Voyageurs' backcourt led the charge. Fifth year guard Emily Tinnes collected 21 points and seven steals in the match, while third year guard Kayla Deschatelets tallied 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Leading scorers for the Mustangs was Laura Graham and Debora Kamba, who had 15 points a piece.
The Voyageurs will be back in action on home court January 4th where they'll host the Queen's Gaels for the first match of 2019.
