The Waterloo Warriors and Nipissing Lakers opened up the Voyageurs Pre-Season Tournament on Thursday evening and it was the Warriors who got the upper hand early and controlled the game throughout, running away with an 85-47 win.
The Warriors, who outscored Nipissing every quarter, shot a cool 53.3% from the field for the game while the Lakers struggled to get the lid off the basket, shooting just 25% on the night.
Leading the way for the Warriors was 4th year forward, Nedim Hodzic, who tallied 20 points and 7 rebounds on 8-10 shooting. In all, the Warriors had four players in double figures, including 3rd year guard, Jayden Grewal, who poured in 18 points in just 14 minutes.
The Lakers were led by 5th year guard, Girece Kazumba, who had 10 points in 11 minutes of play.
Tournament action continues on Friday when Western and Bishop's face off at 5pm before the host Voyageurs square off against Western at 7pm.
