GOLF | Voyageurs Set to Host Canada's Best
The Voyageurs are welcoming the best university golfers to Sudbury next week as the 2024 Canadian University/College Golf Championships descend on the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club.
A practice round is scheduled for Sunday before the tournament kicks off Monday morning. Cuts will be made after the third round, with the top nine men's teams, top six women's teams, and any individual within 10 shots of the lead, playing in the fourth and final round on Thursday.
Laurentian will be represented by a full, 5-person team on the men's side while Mackenzie Fowke will be the lone Voyageur on the women's side. The five men teeing off include Alex Fowke, Ben Fowke, Ethan Mulligan, Adam Mutuchky, and Vincent Palladino.
The men's squad is coming off of a fall season that saw them turn in strong performances in a number of tournaments before settling for a 10th place finish at the OUA Championships in Waterloo. Mackenzie also had a strong season going before she was forced to withdraw from the OUA Championships due to illness.
All six Voyageurs will be looking to get off to a strong start and put themselves in a position to be golfing on Thursday. Round 1 and 2 tee times will be posted on Friday.
