The Laurentian Voyageurs Men's Hockey team kicked off a best-of-three game series against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Wednesday in the first round of the OUA playoffs.
A game of great anticipation for all viewers but unfortunately the Voyageurs had no offence and were completely dominated by the Gee-Gees, who pulled into a 3-0 lead just over nine minutes into the game.
With an eight goal showing by the Ottawa Gee-Gee's the Voyageurs one goal would be significantly out done and therefore sending Ottawa away with the first win in the series. Kevin Domingue would be Ottawa's first star as he finished the game with a total of four goals.
Various other notable mentions from the Gee-Gee's are Brendan Jacome, Eric Locke and Michael Poirier who all finished with a goal and two assists.
Laurentian's solo goal effort would be provided by the captain Nicolas Dionne who undressed Anthony Brodeur at the start of the second period. Marc-Antoine Gagnon and Jacob Smith would pick up the first of their post season points on his goal.
After an 8-1 defeat by the Gee-Gees the Vees head to the Nation's Capital in hopes to hand Ottawa two home losses and send the Vees to the second round of playoffs.
The next two playoff games will be Saturday February 16th and Sunday the 17th if necessary, with puck drop scheduled for 7:30pm both nights.
