On Saturday afternoon, the Voyageurs women's soccer team opened up their weekend in Kingston with a battle against the RMC Paladins. Despite grabing the lead early in the second half, the Paladins would find an equalizer as both teams earned a point in the draw.
The Voyageurs started out strong, maintaining the bulk of possesion and threatning to bulge the twine but RMC's Claudia Rusu was equal to the task each time, sending the game to halftime in a scoreless draw.
The Voyageurs finally broke through in the 47th minute when Mia De Gasperis would finally find a way past Rusu. Just 19 minutes later, the Paladins would capitalize on their one true opportunity as Nicole White would bury a free kick past Caitlin McNamara. Despite continued pressure by the Voyageurs, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The women will look to get their first win tomorrow when they visit the Queen's Gaels at 12pm.
