The 11-8 Voyageurs faced off against the 7-12 University of Toronto Varsity Blues as they hit home court for the second last time this regular season. With an enthusiastic crowd, Laurentian looked to start off the match with a burst of energy, and that they did.
Coming out of the gate strong, the home team outscored the University of Toronto 31-14 in the opening quarter of the game, but this was just one of two attacks. Laurentian unleashed again in the third, tripling the Varsity Blues 24-8 in the quarter. The end result was a win for the Voyageurs, taken handily with a final score of 114-66.
Leading the way for the Voyageurs was third-year guard Kadre Gray who racked up 29 points and seven rebounds in the victory. Fifth-year guard JD West added 18 points as he shot 60% from long range. Haroun Mohamed also had a big game, dishing out 10 assists.
Top scorer for University of Toronto was Evan Shadkami with 19 points.
The Voyageurs will look to keep this energy alive for tomorrow's match, where they'll face off against the top ranked Ryerson Rams for the team's Senior's Night.
