Laurentian took to the court for the final time for regular season play tonight against the Carleton Ravens at the Raven's Nest. With playoff rankings on the mind, the Voyageurs hoped to dethrone the first ranking Ravens despite their impressive record.
It didn't start off well for the Voyageurs, as the Ravens downed them 28-11 with a big showing in the opening quarter. Things continued to go Carleton's way in the second quarter, as they topped off the half with a 69.2% success rate from long range.
As Carleton's long range success only continued in the latter half, and their rebounding doubled the Voyageurs', the Raven's easily secured the win over Laurentian 107-78.
Top contributor for the Voyageurs was fourth year guard JD West with 17 points as he shot 55% from behind the arc. Fourth year guard Haroun Mohamed added 14 points and five rebounds of his own in the loss.
Leading scorer for the Ravens was Troy Reid-Knight with 24 points.
As the regular season comes to an end, the Voyageurs will fall into fourth place in the eastern conference. This means Laurentian will match up with fifth place team, the Queen's Gaels, in Sudbury for the first round of playoffs on February 20th at 8pm.
