MBB | Voyageurs Win Streak Ends at Five With Loss to Lancers

The Laurentian Voyageurs men's basketball team began their penultimate roadtrip of 2024 with a journey down to Southwestern Ontario as they would go up against the Windsor Lancers Friday night. 

The Voyageurs come into this game riding a 5 game win streak while their opponents the Windsor Lancers have begun the season very inconsistently coming in with a record of 3-5 on the year. 

In the first quarter things could not have been more even. The lead changed numerous times over the course of the first with both sides seeming like they were matching each other every step of the way. This culminated in a 21-21 score after 10 minutes. 

In the second it was Laurentian who would go on a 10-3 run to begin the quarter. This run was able to carry them all the way to a halftime lead with the Vees leading the Lancers 45-39.

It was the third quarter that ended up being Laurnetian's downfall as their six point lead going into the second half was quickly erased. Windsor would put up 25 in the third to take the lead before putting up another 25 in the fourth quarter allowing them to go on and win the game by a score of 89-81.

Laurentian's standout performers were the duo of Nginyu Ngala and Shawn Barthelemy who put up a combined 45 points on the day with Barthelemy picking up a 25 point 12 rebounds double-double.

The Voyageurs will look to bounce back as they end their roadtrip Saturday taking on the Western Mustangs in London with tip-off set for 8pm.
