Laurentian took to the Ben Avery Gymnasium tonight to face off against the 19-1 Ryerson Rams as they celebrated graduating seniors Anthony Iacoe and JD West. After a crushing loss at the hands of the Rams in mid-January, the Voyageurs were eager to hit back hard in this rematch.
It didn't start out great for the home team, as they trailed by nine at the halfway mark. But the Voyageurs entered the third quarter determined, bringing with them efficient three-point shooting they could lean on. Shooting 66% from long range in the latter half, the Voyageurs were able to take the lead, ultimately coming away with the victory 88-82 over the top ranked team in the country.
Leading the way for Laurentian was third-year guard Kadre Gray who racked up 45 points and eight rebounds in his 38 minutes of gameplay. Fourth-year guard Haroun Mohamed added 12 points of his own as he shot 80% from the field.
Top scorer for the Rams was Myles Charvis with 19 points.
The Voyageurs will have the week to get ready for their final set of regular season games, as they head east to play Carleton and the University of Ottawa next weekend.
