For their second game of their 2019 opening double header Laurentian squared up against the 5-7 York University Lions. Looking to bounce back from the previous night's loss to the Queen's Gaels, energy was essential for the home team.
After trading baskets with the Lions for the opening quarter, Laurentian made a run in the second. With multiple back-to-back three point makes, the home team secured an 11 point lead going into half time. Holding their own in the second half and maintaining their comfortable lead, the Voyageurs were ultimately able to pull way with the win 64-46.
Leading contributor for Laurentian was fifth year guard Emily Tinnes who racked up 21 points in the victory. Fourth year guard Andrea Zulich added 11 points of her own as she shot 60% from long range while fourth year guard Mackenzie Robinson added 10 points and 7 rebounds of her own.
Top scorer for the Lions was Cyanna King with 15 points.
The Voyageurs will look to keep this momentum going as they return back to home court next weekend where they'll face the Carleton Ravens and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.
