Looking to take advantage of their off-day yesterday, the Voyageurs men's soccer team came out gunning for the Carleton Ravens but it was the Ravens who dictated much of the play, handing the Voyageurs a 3-1 loss.
The Voyageurs hung tough with the Ravens to start the match but at the halfway point of the opening 45, Dario Conte played a rocket of a cross into the box that was met by Walker Smith, who made no mistake in putting the Ravens up 1-0. Conte and Smith connected again just before the end of the half on a near identical goal as the Ravens took a 2-0 lead into half time.
The Voyageurs would get on the board in the 76th minute thanks to some relentless pressure leading to a turnover that found it's way to the foot of Nicholas Correa, who slotted it home to make it 2-1. The Ravens would quell any attempt at a comeback in the 83rd minute thanks to a Gabriel Bitar tally.
The Voyageurs look to regroup when they head on the road to UOIT on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:15pm.
